The Reality of Planning for Events

Let's face it, creating budgets for events is a reality; it is a core piece of event planning and management. Budgeting is an area that I need to get more comfortable with, as they tell us what money and resources we have coming in (revenue) and what money and resources are going out (expenditure).

Current thoughts on budgeting
Budgeting is something that I have always steered away from, avoiding it if I can. To be honest, I am not really sure why. I think it relates to my experiences in Accounting and Financial Management in University.
Budgeting is an area where I want to develop my skills: learn the accounting process and how to apply financial statements to an event. I understand how financial statements work, but now I am ready to apply them.
Developing budgeting skills
During the Mixed Doubles Curling, I am working on Sponsorship and Budget. Table 1 displays our current workings on the budget for the 2020 Mixed Doubles Curling event.

Although not complete, this is what we are developing right now, alongside building our Sponsorship Letter and Package.
What will we do next for the budget?
I have showed this budget to my Co-Chair and the GM, and we are going to confirm it in the next week or two. We will then finalize our Sponsorship Package and start approaching our stakeholders for Sponsorship. As of now, we are asking Sponsors for $3,000. We are on our way to making this event happen!
